UNC PhD student Lindsey Carr has been working in the Galapagos islands over the last few years. She is doing some really cool work on algae and all the neat herbivores there, including iguanas, fish, urchins, and sea turtles. But she is short on funds for her planned field work this summer: please help her fill that gap by making a small donation to her work here.
Here’s how you can help. I have spent the past two summers collecting survey data from 9 sites at 7 different islands. I would like to survey additional sites in August 2012, specifically sites on the westernmost islands. This region is especially important because it has the coldest sea surface temperature, highest nutrient input and highest proportion of endemic species. My team and I have already secured the scientific research permits and funding for airfare to get to the Galapagos Islands. Your support will go towards the boat rental fees to get my team and our equipment out to these sites.
