Introducing Carl Safina, the bluefin tuna

At the end of every Naked Oceans podcast there’s a bit where we ask a marine expert “If you were a marine critter, which would you be, and why…?”

We’re nearing the end of our first series of podcasts and we’ve had all sorts of great species added to our Critter of the Month hall of fame.

It’s not supposed to be some sort of serious, transcendental psychoanalysis. It’s really just a fun way of introducing a new species every show and getting to know our marine experts a little – hidden beneath all the science papers and research there are a bunch of people who get a kick out of the cool creatures that live beneath the waves.

Which critter would you be?

  1. I’d be a Pycnopodia helianthoides, the fearsome sunflower seastar.

I think I’d be a reef squid — they’re so elegant and graceful, swimming in formation. And the real estate is awesome.
